Breaking Down A Turn – One Approach

Turn Breakdown

DwD 0231:  Breaking Down A Turn – One Approach

On this issue of Dominating with Dawson, we go over a way that (hopefully future guest) Ken Hill breaks down a turn into entry turns and exit turns where you can prioritize either speed in, or speed out of a turn or balance of both.  The discussion goes into a few different directions than originally intended, but hopefully this discussion will help you when driving on track.

You can subscribe to our podcast on the podcast provider of your choice, including the Apple podcast app, Google music, Amazon, and YouTube etc. Also, if you could give our podcast a (5-star?) rating or even better, a podcast review, we would greatly appreciate it and it would help us to grow the passion and sport of high performance driving.

For instance, leaving an Apple Podcast rating is very easy.  If you go to your podcast library, under shows and click on the podcast you can leave a (5?) star rating and enter your review.

PS  Please don’t forget that if you are looking to add an Apex Pro to your driving telemetry system, don’t forget to use our discount code for all Apex Pro systems you will receive a free Windshield Suction Cup Mount for the system, a savings of $40.  Just enter the code “ghitlikesapex!” when you order.  They are a great system and truly invaluable in safely increasing your speed on track and/or autocross etc.  The recently released second generation systems and app increases the capability of the system greatly.

Airbags

DwD 0228: Why Race Cars Don’t have Airbags or Steering Wheel Locks

On this issue of Dominating with Dawson, we go over why most of our racing series require the steering wheel lock to be removed from the vehicle and why airbags are not used in race cars.  Apparently, the police were in the area during our discussion, apologies for the sirens.

Neither of these will help you on track in a race car and both can actually hurt you if left in place.

Adapt to a Car

DwD 0226: Adapting a Car to the Driver or the Driver to the Car

On this issue of Dominating with Dawson, we discuss the mutual ideas of adapting a car to a driver and adapting your driving to the car.  Both of these are keys to improving your performance at and especially during a race.  We even have a great time with Vicki and Ben bulldozing each other several times in a row. Lol.  We lost the last few seconds so this one ends a bit more abruptly than we had hoped.

We hope you enjoy this episode!

Tossing a Car Into a Turn

Dominating with Dawson 0223: Tossing a Car Into a Turn – Jargon 101

Tossing a car into a turn

On this issue of Dominating with Dawson, we cover a term the new to Jennifer. Tossing a car into a turn.  While it seems to be losing popularity, we have heard it a few times at the track in the paddock. So, in our pursuit of not looking like we don’t know anything, we thought we would cover it here.  We then move into a discussion of driving styles and choices that may help you as well.

Jargon 101: What is a Log Book?

Log Book

In this issue of Dominating with Dawson, we go into what is meant by log booking. This is also referred to as a race car that is log booked.  It is really not terribly complicated but it is something that you may eventually need to do. And it is always better to not sound uninformed.  Let us do that for you, lol.  (PS It turns out we do have a log book from Lucky Dog, we just didn’t know that was what it was.)
