One of the issues that several of our teams’ drivers have had, especially when they first started was racing vs the other cars vs racing the track (or themselves).  We talked with Ben about why each of these can be correct and how to minimize mistakes in going too far in one direction or the other.  The ratio likely changes as you progress as a racing driver.

The Mythology of Late Apex and Braking in a Straight Line

In this episode of Dominating with Dawson, we go over the often heard mantra of always use a late apex and always brake in a straight line.  While these may be useful in some turns, they should not be construed as applicable to 100% of your laps.  We go into why these methodologies are often taught early in a driver’s education, as well as what the alternatives are and when to start to expand your repertoire and incorporate more advanced techniques.

Jeremy is stuck in the middle of a family squabble about what spares to bring to the track.  Vicki is worried about space and weight.  Bill is worried about losing track time or an event due to not having what we need and have but did not bring.  Is Bill right?  Does he end up sleeping in the bathtub?  Again.  Does Jeremy escape without losing a limb or blood?  Of course, we also expanded the discussion into the area of tools to bring, since they are heavy and a personal pet peeve of Miss Vicki.

In this episode of Dominating with Dawson, we go over the importance of properly installing and selecting a racing seat.  While many endurance teams are forced into making compromises for all drivers’ sizes and shapes, it is more ideal to take extra time and make sure the seat and the installation are perfect for a single driver car.  We do go into some of the options and strategies to minimize any issues when in a team situation.

GHiT 0482:  Recap of GridLife NJMP 2023 and Our First Time Working with a Coach – Miss Jackie

What a great weekend we had at the recent GridLife NJMP 2023.  Our team worked with Jackie Andrews as our coach for the Grid Life event at NJMP.  Jeremy and Nick were in the advanced HPDE group in their E46 BMW 3-series street’ish cars.  Jennifer was in our B Spec Fit in HPDE and Vicki was in HPDE in our new E46 race car but switched to our Honda Fit when we had a mechanical issue.  Bill was also in the B Spec Fit and competed in the Sundae Cup series, securing a solid last place.
