What is rotation – Part 4

Rotation 1
Rotation 2
Rotation 3

DwD 0351:  What is rotation – Part 4 or maybe more?

We are going to take advantage of this week’s Judge Jeremy covering for Ben and go into car rotation for at least the fourth time.  We try to discuss what people are talking about when they refer to a car having good or bad rotation or how they were able to get the car to rotate through a turn.  The last time we looked, there are several potential axes of rotation, and many/most can result in a poor or expensive outcome.  Once again, this is a topic that we may need to revisit in a future episode, lol, but we give it another good try and did a lot better than some of our previous discussions.

GHIT 0345:  Race Recap:  Bill Goes to Comp School

Our first team member is trying to get his racing license at Gingerman with NASA Great Lakes.  This is his third weekend in a row and boy does it show.  Also, the hazards of prepping a car for a race weekend with a post-race hangover/zombie mechanic.  Bill also was racing with Glenn and Tim in his first ever NASA TREC race at Gingerman.  All race weekends are great fun but sometimes things just don’t go your way.  What are the stories from this weekend?  Does anything go correctly for Bill at the event?  How did Bill’s helmet grow?  Could Bill have survived without the help of Tim and Reese?  Tune in to find out.

NASA’s TREC Endurance racing series

GHIT 0336:  NASA’s TREC Endurance racing series with Bryan Lingruen

As you know, we love endurance racing.  Endurance racing allows us to get a huge amount of track time and competition in a single weekend.  NASA has recently started an endurance racing series to compliment their sprint racing and HPDE weekend events.  The TREC series currently races at the same tracks on a Friday and the races range from 3 hours to 8 hours depending on the event and the venue.  We talk with Bryan Lingruen about the start and history of the NASA TRES series and how NASA Great Lakes organizes and holds their events.  This is a great option for additional racing and track time if you are going to a NASA weekend.

Pit Stops

– Practicing and Some Best Practices

DwD 0332:  Pit Stops – Practicing and Some Best Practices

Once you start to progress as drivers and as a team, one of the more important aspects of racing and one of the most overlooked and potentially ignored aspects of endurance racing is minimizing you time lost on track during the pit stops.  As always, the over-riding most important aspects is to maintain focused on the safety of you, your team, your cars, and the fellow teams in the pit lane.  We also offer a few of the lessons we have learned along the way during our journey.  Ben and Bill have apparently taken a silly pill during this episode and digress down a few different paths of humor(?).  Tips on harnesses, cam locks, radios and radio connections, pit entry prep by the driver, driver order optimization, pit organization tips/5S/Kaizen boards, detachable steering wheels, etc.

If you have any further hints that you’d like to share, please let us know in a podcast review, on our social media, or send us an email at [email protected] and we can share it in an upcoming Dominating With Dawson.

Determining the Rain Line

DwD 0279: Determining the Rain Line

On this issue of Dominating with Dawson, Alex joins us to help define what the rain line is on a track and how to find it on a track, especially when it is our first time at a track.  The discussion wanders a bit, but all of it should help you in determining the rain line and allow you to optimize it to that specific day’s track conditions and your car.
